DRINKS

Photographing a drink well asks for patience and a certain respect for the subject. Liquid never behaves the same way twice. A pour catches the light differently with every attempt, condensation forms on its own schedule, and the moment worth keeping often lasts a fraction of a second. Krzysztof Czernecki has spent years learning to anticipate those moments rather than chase them.
Krzysztof is a commercial drinks photographer shooting in London. His work centres on beverages of every kind, from beer and whisky to soft drinks, champagne and fragrance, photographed for advertising campaigns, packaging and brand imagery. Much of it relies on high speed capture, freezing splashes, bubbles and flowing liquid at speeds the eye cannot follow, though he is equally at home with the quieter disciplines of still life, where composition and light do the talking.
Agencies and brand teams usually come to him with a layout, a mood board or sometimes nothing more than a feeling they want the image to carry. From there the work is collaborative. He plans the lighting, the motion control rigging and the practical mechanics of getting liquid to move the way the concept demands, then refines on set until the frame holds together. Every image is finished with meticulous retouching, so that what leaves his desk is ready for print and screen without compromise. Clients tend to stay involved throughout, whether in the room or reviewing remotely as the shoot progresses.
Alongside stills, Krzysztof shoots motion, including slow motion liquid work, so campaigns that need both can be produced as a single, coherent production.
